Mecca of Wine-Tasting: The Wine Collection of El Paseo

Updated: Sep 17, 2022

Watch our Tuscany, there’s a new wine destination on the rise—and it’s giving locals a reason to rediscover the West Coast and experience Old World wine like never before!

Sure, you’ve heard of The Funk Zone with its hip and trendy ambience. But if you haven’t taken a walk down the historic region of El Paseo in downtown Santa Barbara, you don’t know what you’re missing!

A magnet for tourists, wine enthusiasts, sommeliers and locals just looking for a fancy getaway, the Wine Collection of El Paseo is a sight for sore eyes!

Inspired by the Spanish Colonial Revival, the magnificent El Paseo building is a vision—taking you back in time for a quiet, but memorable indulgence in some of the finest wines in all of Santa Barbara.

Celebrating Diversity

Arguably the greatest part about exploring the Wine Collection of El Paseo is its celebration of versatility in the world of wine.

With 6 fantastic tasting rooms built within a charming courtyard, you have the unique opportunity to experience a range of different wines from Santa Barbara’s major viticultural area.

From a polo-inspired vineyard to exquisite Italian style blends—when you visit El Paseo, you’re bound to fall in love with the place, the wonderful winemakers and the wine itself!

Here are a few that deserve special mention:

· Happy Canyon Vineyard

This Polo-inspired tasting room pays its respects to two massive polo fields built within its own winery!

Known for its superb Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris produced by Margerum Wine Co.—here, you’ll find a truly impressive collection of white and red wines (including Syrah and Grenache) served in an environment that’s as classy as it gets!

· Jamie Slone Wines

A professional racer and wine enthusiast, Jamie Slone is the man behind this fantastic establishment, sharing the credit with his wife, Kym. The couple is proud to serve premium varietal wines—and can sometimes be seen pouring it themselves in the tasting room.

Interestingly enough, once again, Doug Margerum is the winemaking maestro behind not just two but four of the labels served in the district.

Besides being an architectural beauty, the Wine Collection of El Paseo promises to deliver some of the most promising wines in the region.

For hungry travelers, you also have the choice to grab a lovely meal at the Presidio Neighborhood!

Treat yourself to a wining and dining paradise in the heart of California!
